WICKERT Maschinenbau: The world market leader from the Southern Palatinate continues to grow
The family-owned company from Landau is one of the leading international suppliers of hydraulic presses. Numerous industrial customers around the world rely on the systems, which have been developed and manufactured exclusively in the Palatinate since 1901. With around 200 employees, including 23 trainees, the globally active machine manufacturer is one of the largest employers in the Southern Palatinate. In view of its continued success, the Landau-based company is always on the lookout for new skilled workers and trainees.
Most people do not come across WICKERT presses in everyday life, which is why the company itself is unknown to many in the region. However, they cannot be overlooked, because when it comes to fully automated systems with robots, they can even exceed the size of a detached house.
WICKERT is a so-called hidden champion, a company that grows and thrives in obscurity. The company is well known to its customers, who come from the plastics and rubber processing industries, among others.
These are top companies that process materials such as elastomers, composites, plastics and powdered materials into high-end products. When they visit Landau from neighboring European countries, Asia or North America, they come because they expect cutting-edge technology.
These include, for example, companies that produce stoppers for vaccine vials or manufacture lightweight yet stable doors made of composite materials for aircraft. Manufacturers of transmission parts and brakes for cars are also on the long list of customers, as are high-tech companies that produce fuel cells and computer chips.
The hydraulic presses are also sought after by scientists from universities, colleges and private institutes around the world who are researching lightweight construction technologies for the future.
Attractive employer
The workforce has grown considerably in recent years. This trend is set to continue in the future, as the company increasingly needs well-trained skilled workers. It therefore offers numerous attractive jobs and apprenticeships. "In order to continue growing, we are urgently looking for industrial specialists in mechanics, electronics, automation, programming and service," explains Stephanie Wickert, Managing Partner. She is the fourth generation to run the medium-sized family business.
Employees cite a number of reasons why they like working at WICKERT. In addition to the interesting work in a modern environment, these include the family atmosphere, short decision-making processes and plenty of individual freedom for professional development. The workforce is just as happy about an attractive salary, including an employee discount system and profit sharing, as it is about the collegial atmosphere, which is not only cultivated at regular events.
